Sagar smiled, “I just walked in and saw Vishal
blowing the balloons. Let’s not worry about the
surprise. Let’s enjoy the day.”
Bheem set down the cake and said, "Of course!
But first of all tell me what you both were
doing?
Vishal excitedly said “Sagar and I were blowing
the balloon and testing how big it can become
before bursting!
Bheem eyes widened. They tried different
balloon sizes. Some of them became bigger
and some smaller in sizes before POPPING!
Bheem said, “You know, these balloons remind
me of our school project on water tanks. A
balloon holds air just like a water tank holds
water!”
Sagar smiled and said, “Exactly! The balloon can
only hold a certain amount of air before it pops,
just like a tank can only hold so much water
before it overflows."
Vishal’s eyes lit up. “Oh! That’s what we call
CAPACITY—the maximum amount something
can hold.”
Sagar added, “Right! And the actual amount of
air in the balloon right now—or the water in the
tank—that’s the VOLUME.”
Vishal nodded. “So capacity is the total it can
hold, and volume is how much we have put
inside so far!”
but we have to be careful not to overfill them!"
